It's the consórcio's main cost — the equivalent of interest on a loan, only usually much smaller. Understanding this fee is understanding what a consórcio really costs.
How much is charged, on average
The total administration fee is usually 15%–25% of the credit value, spread across the whole term of the group. On a R$ 100,000 consórcio with a 20% fee, that's R$ 20,000 distributed across the installments. Each administrator sets its own percentage, so it's worth comparing.
How it shows in the installment
The monthly installment embeds a fraction of the common fund (which builds the credit) and a fraction of the administration fee. That's why a consórcio installment is more than just the credit divided by the term: part of it pays to run the group. Some groups also include a reserve fund and insurance.
With a carta contemplada, the fee is already running
